Why are social media links important on your website?
There is no doubt that social media can be very distracting and some bloggers prefer not to have them on their site.
If you’ve put a lot of effort into building your website you certainly don’t want people clicking away from your content.
However, social media is a tool you can use to encourage others to share your content.
Where should you put social media links?
People love to share something that they know their friends will like.
They might do it to make themselves look smarter and more knowledgeable.
Or they may share posts because they care about the cause.
Provide a small range of social media buttons at the bottom of each post and page.
Make sure they work and they are easy for visitors to use.
Which social media links should I use?
Don’t worry about trying to provide everyone social media icon there is.
You’ll only find the icons will compete with each other for attention.
If someone wishes to share your content make it easy for them.
Only offer the ones you use like Twitter, Facebook and email sharing, for example.
If you have a big Pinterest or Instagram following then include those too.
However, too many icons and visitors will feel overwhelmed and may not share at all.
Getting online and attracting business takes time and effort, but with the right approach it will pay dividends in the long run.
