Cisco’s June 2016 VNI global IP traffic forecast report, reveals some interesting reading about where the internet will grow over the next few years.
The fastest areas of growth are the Middle East and Africa with a whopping 41% of growth expected between 2015 and 2020.
The Asia pacific comes in third with traffic expected to reach 67.8 EB* per month by 2020, a 22 percent increase.
This means the Asia Pacific will generate 14 billion DVDs’ worth of traffic, or 56.4 EB per month.
Traffic in North America will reach 59.1 EB per month by 2020, at growth of 19 percent.
While, monthly Internet traffic in North America will generate 11 billion DVDs’ worth of traffic, or 44.7 EB per month.
A similar growth will be seen in Western Europe where internet traffic growth will reach 28.0 EB per month by 2020, an increase of 20 percent.
Monthly Internet traffic in Western Europe will generate 6 billion DVDs’ worth of traffic, or 24.1 EB per month.
And, in poorer regions the figures are greater
Similar growth figures can be seen in Latin America where traffic growth will reach 11.6 EB per month by 2020, an increase of 21 percent.
Monthly Internet traffic in Latin America will generate 2 billion DVDs’ worth of traffic, or 9.9 EB per month.
In Central and Eastern Europe traffic will reach 17.0 EB per month by 2020, an impressive increase of 27 percent.
Monthly Internet traffic in Central and Eastern Europe will generate 4 billion DVDs’ worth of traffic, or 15.9 EB per month.
If nothing else these figures show you need to be online, and that the world is your potential customer base.
