There are literally thousands, if not millions, of people out there wanting to know how to do something – anything.
As an expert in your field this raises a lot of opportunities for you to create compelling blog posts.
The posts don’t have to be very long, just 250 words.
You’ll need to include images or diagrams for each different stage, but most smart cameras can take good enough pictures which are easy to upload.
We’re going to look out how to set out one of these posts.
1. Start where you mean to end
Take a few snaps of the end product if possible.
This will give you a good idea about what type of information you need to include.
2. Rough out each stage in steps using a flowchart or a blank cartoon strip
This will give you a good idea of how many steps there will be in the process.
3. Begin right at the beginning
This may mean explaining where supplies are purchased from, too.
You may wish to talk about cleaning or safety products at this stage too.
Always assume your reader has no idea how to get started.
4. Write and follow each step as you go
Don’t sit down and write the post off the top of your head.
Instead, write then ‘do’.
That way, you’ll know if you have missed something important in your plan.
5. Review and check
The best way to test if your ‘how to..’ process works is to ask someone who knows nothing about the topic to try to follow your steps.
Remember, education is one of the main reasons people go online.
If you want to offer good quality posts a ‘how to…’ post is a great way of showcasing your skills and knowledge and providing great content people will want to go back to over and over again.
