With thousands of blogs being published a minute, yes – a minute, you are going to have to work hard and fast to grab your readers’ attention.
Not only does your content need to be formatted to keep a reader’s interest, but it has to be about a topic they are interested in.
People are online at an ever increasing rate.
They go online to find answers to all manner of questions. In How can you best share what you have to offer with your blog? we looked at what is the best way you can grab their attention.
Here are 3 tips that you can use to get visitors to stay on your site and read what you have to say:
- Use catchy titles that pique interest when they appear in the search results. Click bait are nasty headlines that online media folk use and that almost irresistible to ignore. While this is not always a good idea, your titles should have words which are searchable and get straight to the point.
- Images are worth a thousand words; perhaps more. Using images that get a potential visitor’s attention in less than a second will go a long way to improving your click through results.
- Videos are becoming more and more popular. Unlike text, where people will swipe away if they get bored, videos seem to capture people’s attention until they end. It’s as if we daren’t look away and have to find out what happens in the end. Keep them short, though. Anything less than 2 minutes and you’ll lose them.
